Home Farm House bed and breakfast Middle Aston

The charming little village of Middle Aston is 12 miles north of Oxford and only 1 hour's drive from Heathrow. The former farmhouse dates from 1650 and has sweeping views over the Cherwell Valley. There is absolutely no traffic and guests will only be disturbed by the birds singing in the garden. Everyone remarks on the exceptional tranquillity. Home Farm House is at the end of a no through lane and there is plenty of parking space. Our nearest towns are Bicester and Banbury.
The bedrooms are very spacious. The double bedroom has an art deco king sized bed with ensuite shower room. The twin bedded room has a hand wash basin and the bathroom and separate WC are just across the passage. Both rooms have televisions, comfortable armchairs, hairdryers and all the things that guests might need. The rooms look out over the garden where there are bird tables and feeders.
Your hosts, Glen and Caroline Parsons have a wide range of interests. They have lived at Home Farm House for over 30 years so their local knowledge is excellent. Caroline is a keen gardener and plantswoman and can tell you all about the Oxford colleges. Glen is interested is in art and antiques and they both enjoy horse racing and country sports.
Breakfast is served in the oak beamed dining room where there is a huge inglenook fireplace. There is orange juice, cereal and fruit. Caroline is delighted to cook sausages, bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms on the Aga; and makes her own marmalade and jam. There are always free range eggs and everything is bought locally.
Middle Aston is tiny and its only amenity is a letter box. One mile away is Steeple Aston where there is an excellent shop and post office. The church is here too as well as the two pubs. They are the White Lion and the Red Lion and you will be warmly welcomed at both of them and assured of a scrumptious meal. Further afield, 2 miles, is Deddington. Although a village, it has a town centre with market place and there are 4 pubs and 4 restaurants including a Chinese and an Indian. There is a large antiques centre and a monthly farmers' market. There are many other pubs in the local villages and Glen and Caroline usually have a current favourite to recommend.
Woodstock is 7 miles away and is full of lovely shops and places to eat as well as being the gateway to Blenheim Palace. A visit to Rousham Park with its exquisite landscape garden designed by William Kent is a must and it is only 2 miles away. The Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Windsor are all within easy reach. Middle Aston is on the Cherwell Valley walk which rambles for 16 miles round the Oxford Canal and the river. There are plenty of shorter walks too. The Oxford Cycle way passes close by. If designer shopping is your thing, Bicester Village is nearby.
